Professor Marjukka Mäkelä leads the office for Health Technology Assessment (Finohta) at the National R & D Centre for Welfare and Health (STAKES) in Helsinki, Finland. Marjukka is a general practitioner; she trained in clinical epidemiology at McMaster University and founded the Finnish Branch of the Nordic Cochrane Centre at Stakes. She is also an active guidelines researcher.
