Cochrane Centre Brazil

The Cochrane Centre Brazil, Brazilian section of the Cochrane Collaboration, is a nongovernmental organization, nonprofit and without international sources of financing, and has as objective to contribute to the enhancement of the decision-making in Health, based on the better available information.

The mission of the Cochrane Centre Brazil is to prepare, to maintain and to disseminate systematic revisions of randomized clinical trials, the better level of evidence for the decisions in Health.

Inaugurated in 1996, the Center is linked to the Postgraduation in Internal and Therapeutic Medicine of Escola Paulista de Medicina [Sao Paulo Medical School] – Universidade Federal de São Paulo [Federal University of São Paulo] (EPM-UNIFESP) and carries out surveys in clinical trials and in Evidence-based Medicine. In addition, promotes courses, training and symposia on systematic review and methodology of survey; it offers a free on-line course in systematic review; and carries out scientific consultancies.

The Center Cochrane of Brazil has comparable scientific output as of similar institutions of the European countries and functions as laboratory for the survey and the teaching of graduation and postgraduate. Acting together with UNIFESP, the Center already facilitated to the Country nearly two hundreds of international publications.
