Objective: To provide an overview of qualitative research that will help people to consider its use in systematic reviews.
Summary:
This workshop will present an overview of qualitative research methods, focusing on how qualitative research is being used in conjunction with qualitative research in health care. The presentation will provide examples of the role of qualitative research in generating hypotheses, developing appropriate recruitment strategies, and maintaining participation in research studies. The contribution of qualitative research in terms of explaining effects and the acceptability or appropriateness of interventions will be discussed, particularly with reference to complex interventions.
Intended audience: Review authors interested in qualitative evidence synthesis.
Technical level expected of participants: Basic.
