W14 - Introducing the GRADEprofiler (GRADEpro)

    Local: Hong Kong lab
    Participants:

This workshop is given on behalf of the Applicability and Recommendations Methods Group.

    Workshop type: Training.

Objective: To learn about the GRADEprofiler (GRADEpro) used to prepare Summary of Findings Tables for Cochrane Reviews.  This workshop will include computer exercises and focus on how to use GRADEpro software and how the program interacts with RevMan 5.

    Summary:
The aim of the workshop is to introduce review authors to GRADEpro software which is used for preparing Summary of Findings (SoF) tables, a new and important addition to Cochrane reviews that is being piloted within The Cochrane Collaboration.

The Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) working group has developed a system to evaluate the strength of recommendations and quality of evidence for inclusion in SoF tables in Cochrane reviews. GRADEpro is a simple computer application that allows importing information from RevMan 5 and creation of SoF tables. The main feature of GRADEpro is facilitating the assessment of the quality of evidence (study design, execution, and limitations, together with directness of evidence and sparseness of data) and creation of summaries of the relative and absolute effects for individual outcomes.

Intended audience: Review authors (workshop facilitators assume the audience is familiar with the format of Cochrane reviews).

Technical level expected of participants: Intermediate.
