W41 - Workflows for Review Group Co-ordinators piloting the Information Management System (IMS) tracking system

    Local: Hong Kong lab
    Participants:

    Workshop type: Closed.

Objective: To demonstrate how the workflows in Archie can help Review Group Co-ordinators and other editorial staff manage and track the progress of tasks involved in the editorial processing of Cochrane reviews, provide some initial hands-on experience, and obtain feedback from participants.

    Summary:
The IMS is an internet-based system which has been designed to make it easier for Cochrane Review Groups (CRGs) to support the running of an editorial base and publishing of Cochrane reviews.  Since mid-2006, all CRG editorial offices have been using Archie (the central server of the IMS), along with a version of Review Manager (RevMan 4.3) that interacts with Archie, to manage, store and publish their reviews. The release of RevMan 5 will further enhance and expand the capabilities of the IMS.

The final phase in the current development of Archie will be the introduction of a workflow/ tracking system to enable editorial staff and others involved in the preparation of Cochrane reviews to track the progress of reviews, as well as to provide reminders and summaries of their Cochrane work. This workshop is specifically for Review Group Co-ordinators who have volunteered to work with their IMS Support Person to pilot the workflows in Archie. Participants will be given hands-on experience and training in the use of the workflows, and will have the opportunity to provide initial feedback on usability and to discuss developments in terms of their own CRG’s needs.

Intended audience: [By invitation] Review Group Co-ordinators of the pilot CRGs.

Technical level expected of participants: N/A.
